Jaipur: In a significant development ahead of the assembly elections in Rajasthan later his year, National People’s Party (NPP) and Lalsot MLA Kirodi Lal Meena, who had left the BJP in 2008, has decided to rejoin the saffron party.
Three MLAs of his party also joined the BJP in the presence of Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and state party president Ashok Parnami.
Hundreds of Meena’s supporters also took the primary membership of the party along with their leader. Kirodi’s wife Golma Devi, who is MLA from Rajgarh-Laxmangarh (Alwar) and former MoS in Gehlot government, and Geeta Verma, MLA from Sikrai, also joined the party.
A fourth MLA of Amber constituency, Naveen Pilania, was not present on the occasion. In two days of hectic merger exercise, the BJP and CM Raje probably assured Meena of nomination to Rajya Sabha whose biennial polls are slated on March 23, and the last date of filing of nomination paper is Monday. However, Meena told the gathering that he and his party were doing “ghar vapsi” unconditionally, and will work for the party in the upcoming assembly polls in December 2018.
