Curfew-like restrictions in parts of Shopian

Srinagar, Mar 9: Curfew-like restrictions were imposed on Friday as a precautionary measure to maintain law and order in some parts of south Kashmir district of Shopian, where life remained crippled for the fifth successive day Friday.
A police spokesperson said that restrictions under section 144 CrPc have imposed in main Shopian town and adjoining area since early this morning to maintain law and order.
However, people alleged that they were not being allowed to move out of their houses since early this morning in Shopian town and adjoining areas.
Shops and business establishments also remained closed in the areas, where there were no restrictions in the district since Monday, when six persons, including two Lashkher-e-Toiba (LeT) militants, on Sunday evening, in an encounter by security forces.
The situation elsewhere in south Kashmir was normal.
