Srinagar:  The bullet-riddled body of a militant was recovered on Monday morning from an orchard in Saidpora village of south Kashmir’s Shopian district.

The deceased was identified as Ashiq Hussain Bhat, son of Mohammad Ishaq Bhat of Rakhpora Shopian.

He had joined militant ranks last year and was affiliated with the Lashkar-eToiba outfit, said the report.

The orchard where he was found dead is ten kilometers from Pahnoo where a militant and four civilians were killed in army firing last night.

Last night, an army spokesman claimed that a militant and three overground workers of militants were killed in retaliatory action by army following an attack on a Mobile Vehicle Check Post (MVCP) of army’s 44 Rashtriya Rifles at Pahnoo. However, the villagers refuted the army claim and said the three slain men were civilians and not OGWs.
