Budgam, Feb 28: A daylong workshop on the role of Civil Defence and targets in terms of rescue and awareness to be achieved for the year 2018 was held here today.
Organized by Civil Defence Kashmir Zone, Director Civil Defense/SDRF Kashmir Javid Hassan Bhat inaugurated the workshop.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhat said that the need for the effective disaster management was felt soon after the World War-1. It was seen as a separate mechanism to face any natural or man-made disasters to mitigate the losses, he said.
Bhat said that the Civil Defense is a movement of civilians and this movement needs more people for effective management.
The event was aimed to aware public about disaster-related challenges, preparedness and setting out the targets for 2018 regarding the civil defence rescue and awareness.
On the occasion, speakers enlightened about the role of civil defence in disaster management, first aid and emergency medicines during the disasters.
Speakers stressed on the need to disseminate the awareness about immediate response towards disasters right from the home.
ADC Budgam, Mohammad Farooq Dar, Deputy Controllers of civil defence, chief wardens, Deputy, Chief wardens, scores of volunteers of civil defence and locals from Budgam participated in the workshop.
