Ganderbal, Feb 22: Many villages of Ganderbal Constituency will be granted the backward status soon by the Government on the recommendations of the J&K State Commission for Backward Classes.
MLA Ganderbal Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar said that he met Chairperson State Commission for Backward Classes in Winter Capital Jammu, and apprised him that the Government declares a village as backward on the recommendations of the J&K State Commission for Backward Classes which first assess the development scenario of the area on the basis of 52 indicators including its social and educational backwardness.
Ishfaq apprised him that many villages of his Constituency are socially and educational Backward and may be given Backward status.
The villages which the MLA asked for backward status and are in active consideration and examination include Narayan bagh, Waskura, Rabitar, Lati Gundroshan, Batpora , Kharbagh, Barsoo, Yangoora , Lar, Watlar Benhama, Khranihama, Badampora, Zazuna, Hadoora, Shuhama, Budergund, Wanihama, Dariyadin, Bakura Repora, Repora bala.
The chairperson said all those areas which have been excluded will be given backward status soon after checking all the indicators.
