Srinagar, Feb 20: Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested three drug peddlers and recovered contraband from them in two separate incidents in the summer capital, Srinagar.
A police spokesperson said that following specific information, a checkpoint was established in Munshibagh in Srinagar. “Two people were intercepted at the checkpoint. The duo tried to escape from the spot but were overpowered by the naka party and apprehended,” he said.
He said 5 kg of cannibis powder was recovered from the accused, identified as Ghulam Hassan Kabli and Mohammad Shafi Sheikh.
In another incident, he said police intercepted a suspicious person at a naka at Konikhan Dalgate. “During checking, police recovered 125 grams of charas from the accused, Shabir Ahmad Ganaie,” he said.
He said the accused is a habitual drug peddler and sells drugs to youngsters in Srinagar city.
Police have registered cases in both the incidents and initiated investigation to nab other people involved in drug trafficking, he added.
