SHRC admits petition seeking probe into the killing of Shopian girl Saima Wani


Srinagar, Feb 13: State Human Rights Commission has admitted a petition seeking inquiry into the killing of teenager Shopian girl Saima Wani who had suffered a bullet injury during Chaigund encounter on January 24 and died after battling for life for 18 days at SKIMS Srinagar.
The petition has filed by International Forum for Justice Chairman Muhammad Ahsan Untoo.
The petitioner in his petition has quoted doctors at SKIMS that Samia had received a bullet in her head during the encounter that after breaking her skull bone had entered into her brain.
Saima was the sister of slain militant Sameer Ahmed Wani. Sameer was killed in the Chaigund encounter.
The petitioner had appealed SHRC to conduct the probe and seek responses from Deputy Commissioner Shopian, SSP Shopian and Inspector General of Police Kashmir Zone. (CNS)
