Explore development of wayside facilities at NH, Mughal Road: VC JKTDC


Jammu, Feb 9: Vice Chairman Jammu & Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation (JKTDC) Rafi Ahmad Mir chairing a review meeting of JKTDC asked officials to evolve new modules of tourist business for the optimal utilization of assets.
Asking the management to devise strategies for full utilization of its assets by developing successful modules of occupancy and providing varied attractions to tourists, Mir directed the JKTDC management to explore development of wayside facilities at National Highway and Mughal Road and strengthen wherever these already exist.
In this regard he asked them to tie up with NHAI to develop a joint module. “In the current cut throat competition scenario, the Corporation should inspire confidence among people with its reliable service and respond to public demands”.
He said that keeping revenue generation in mind, a assessment of loss making units should be made so as to ensure their timely revival. Complimenting the officers for successfully conducting ethnic food festivals and destinations festivals, across the valley, he said that efforts of JKTDC have somewhere helped in reviving tourism and involving great participation of locals.
He said that all JKTDC properties should be made green and asked the officials to coordinate with Ministry of Science and Technology for introducing smart solar lighting.
In addition to that Mir also gave directions to constitute a high powered committee to ensure that all local municipalities and territory managers work in close coordination for proper sanitation and solid waste management disposal.
Secretary Tourism Sarmad Hafeez besides senior officials of JKTDC also attended the meeting. (KNS)
