Villagers accuse army of harassing militant’s family, stage protest

 

Pulwama, Feb 8: Locals from Begumbagh village of Kakapora area of south Kashmir’s Puwama district this evening staged a protest against Army, alleging that they harassed the family members of Halal Ahmed Rather whose photograph went viral today with an assault rifle.
The villagers alleged that soon after his photo went viral on social media, army’s 55 Rashtriya Rifles reached at Begum Bagh Kakapora and fired few aerial rounds outside his house.
Pertinently, the two brothers of the militant, Manzoor Ahmed and Javaid were picked up by special squad of Jammu Kashmir police during a raid on Wednesday night.
Sources said that security establishments believe that Hilal Rather was the key player of the SMHS shootout which led to the killing of two policemen while as a top Lashker commander Naveed Jat managed to escape.
When contacted a top police official denied allegations that any army party entered into the village. (CNS)
