Srinagar, Dec 31: Declaring that war against the menace of drug abusive will continue, Director General of Police (DGP) Dr S P Vaid on Sunday said that 1213 peddlers were arrested and thousands of kgs of drugs, including charas, poppy straw, heroin, Ganga and opium have been recovered in the state during this year.
“Our fight against drugs has yielded good results and it will continue, Dr Vaid told reporters here Sunday.
He said Jammu and Kashmir police registered 888 cases in different police stations against the drug peddlers and other smugglers this year. We have arrested 1213 drug peddlers against these FIRs, he said adding later 16 notorious peddlers and 18 criminals were booked under Public Safety Act (PSA). The fight will continue and we will carry forward the momentum, he declared.
The police chief said police recovered 174 charas, 8259 kgs of Poppy Straw, about 140 kgs of Heroin and brown sugar, 201 kgs of Ganga, Capsule and tables 247341, opium derivatives 8149 kgs, Codeine phosphate bottles 12913 and inject 1285.
