Bandipora, Dec 29: A day-long community-based awareness cum training programme under Disaster Management (DM) was held here under the chairmanship of Assistance Commissioner (R) Massrat Hasham, today.
The main objective of the programme was to give awareness to common people and involve them to attain training in rescue measures so that during disasters, they can help themselves to minimize the loss of life and property.
The experts from SDRF, on the occasion, gave practical training of First Aid, CPR and Rope Rescue to the volunteers present in the programme.
The programme was jointly organised by the District Administration and District Disaster Management Authority Bandipora.
Speaking on the occasion, the Assistance Commissioner said that the disasters are the part of our life but by taking preventions loss of life and property could be minimised. He stressed for holding of such programmes in rural areas of the district and called upon the youth to participate in these training programmes as volunteers.
Later a mock drill was held in which Assistant Commissioner Massrat Hasham himself, participated as a volunteer.
Among others who participated in the programme were Disaster Management Professionals from various districts of the valley.
