SPO arrested with narcotics in Kishtwar

 

Jammu, Dec 25: A Special Police Officer was arrested on Monday with contraband of narcotics in a remote belt of hilly Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir.
“Police have recovered a consignment of contraband and has booked a Special Police Officer (SPO) in NDPS Act,” Abrar Ahmad Chowdhary, SSP Kishtwar here said.
He said that the police received a specific information that a Special Police Officer (SPO) is involved in the smuggling and sale of Charas in Surrore and Drabshalla area following which the police party laid a special naka at Drabshalla where during the checking one person tried to escape the naka. “The police officials on the naka point chased and overpowered him and during his personal search police recovered 700 grams of Charas from his possession,” he said adding that a case under section 8/20 of NDPS Act was regiatered against the accused identified as Mohammad Iqbal, resident of Khori Saroor, Kishtwar.
