Srinagar, Dec 22: Ahead of Joint Resistance Leadership’s (JRL) valley-wide protests against the ‘growing Indian oppression’, police arrested Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik from his residence and shifted him to central jail Srinagar, a spokesman said on Friday.
According to the statement issued here, the JKLF spokesman said that “Police Friday morning raided the residence of Malik and arrested him. He was immediately shifted to central jail Srinagar on a judicial remand.”
He said that despite his arrest and police ‘highhandedness’, JKLF leaders and activists Friday staged a peaceful protest at Lal Chowk against the killings of innocent Misra Bano, Ruby Jaan, Asif Iqbal, Zahid Ahmad and others, against vandalizing and destroying properties, unleashing of a fresh reign of terror and torture against common people, pellet terrorism and other oppressive measures.
JKLF leaders including Zonal president Noor Muhammad Kalwal, Zonal vice presidents Muhammad Yasin Butt, Muhammad Sideeq Shah, Zonal organizer Bashir Kashmiri, Zahoor Ahmad Butt, Zonal Press Secretary Asharf bin Salam, Professor Javed, Ghulam Muhammad Dar, Imtiyaz Ahmad and others along with people from many walks of life in large numbers participated in it.
Holding placards depicting photographs of recent innocent martyrs and their bereaved kith and kin and raising slogans against ‘growing Indian terrorism’, protesters marched towards Budshah chowk and staged a peaceful sit-in there.
This sit-in as per the spokesman was addressed by various JKLF leaders including Zonal president Noor Muhammad Kalwal.
While addressing the participants of the protest and media person, Noor said that killing innocent men and women with impunity, vandalizing properties, looting houses and shops, torturing people, putting peoples residential houses to flames, clamping crackdowns to stop peoples protests, indiscriminate pellet and bullet firings and other acts to suppress resistance of Kashmiris, has become an order of the day and blood of humans has been turned into a cheapest commodity in Kashmir.
“These atrocities are being committed to suppress Kashmiri voices but the oppressors while committing these inhuman acts are forgetting the historical fact that freedom movements of nations never get suppressed by these kinds of tyrannies,” he said.
Kalwal said that Kashmiris will never tolerate this killing spree, atrocities and will keep protesting against these undemocratic and inhuman acts. (KNS)
