Bandipora, Dec 20: The residents of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district are up in arms against the government for failing to provide basic facilities to them.
Inhabitants of the district alleged that the administration has failed to repair the dilapidated roads and provide adequate power to the area.
They said that absence of electricity has resulted in immense hardships to the people.
Inhabitants alleged that they have been ignored by all the successive regimes so far.
“The authorities are providing uninterrupted power supply to Jammu while the people of Kashmir are being pushed to the walls, which is sheer injustice,” they added.
The residents from scores of villages including Watapora, Qazipora, Kaloosa, Laharwalpora, Putushay, Onagam and Mangnipora areas said that they are living in a miserable condition due to the erratic power supply since past several weeks.
They said that they have been plunged into darkness. “We are being provided inadequate power supply with frequent cuts,” they said.
The aggrieved residents said that despite paying hefty amount as monthly electricity bill, the Power Development Department (PDD) is depriving them of this basic facility.
“Our exams are going on and due to absence of power supply; we are facing a lot of hardships. We have been repeatedly urging the authorities to redress our problems; but to no avail,” a student from Watapora village said.
They later appealed PDD to ensure adequate power supply at the earliest. (KNS)
