Putin thanks Trump for CIAs help in thwarting attack plot


Washington, Dec 18: Russian President Vladimir Putin has called to thank his US counterpart Donald Trump for a CIA tip-off that helped foil a major terror strike in St Petersburg, the White House said today, the second telephonic talk between the two leaders in four days. Putin told Trump that the information provided by the CIA allowed Russian law enforcement agencies to track down and detain a group of suspects who were planning to bomb the centrally located Kazan Cathedral and other crowded parts of Russia’s second-largest city.
