Amid speculations about cabinet reshuffle in Jammu and Kashmir, Bharatiya Janata Party has ruled out the possibility about it making any changes in the present team of the ministers in the cabinet.
BJP, which came into power for the first time in Jammu and Kashmir in 2014, has played safe since the very first day of entering into a power sharing agreement with the Peoples Democratic Party in Jammu and Kashmir.
The critics in Jammu region have accused BJP of playing second fiddle to PDP and it surrendering before the Kashmir based party. Despite facing criticism BJP ministers have maintained low profile in Kashmir and they have remained focused on Jammu region. BJP during the past three years has made minor changes in the portfolios of their ministers. BJP dropped one of their ministers and Bali Baghat and Chaurdary Lal Singh swapped their portfolios.
Now as the rumours are rife about induction of Tasaduq Mufti as Tourism Minister and PDP may give chance to new faces there was a possibility of BJP also shuffling its ministers. But the party wants its old horses to continue as it doesn’t want to take any chance at this point of time as the BJP high command has already asked the BJP leaders to start campaign for 2019 parliamentary polls and forget about the ministerial berths. On the other hand BJP high command seems in no mood to disturb the ministers at present and wants them to carry on. The saffron party knows it very well that Jammu has emerged as its bastion and it can win it again and at that point of time new faces could be given a chance.
