Air traffic affected at Srinagar airport due to poor visibility

Srinagar, Dec 13: Air traffic was on Wednesday affected at Srinagar International Airport, where 10 flight was able to operate while 13 were cancelled due to poor visibility and light snowfall in the morning.
“As many as 13 flights operating from Srinagar airport were initially delayed and later cancelled due to poor visibility and light snowfall in the summer capital,” an official of the airport said.
However, he said as the day progressed the snow from the runway was cleared and following improvement in visibility, 10 flights were able to operate from the airport.
As many as 23 flights operate from the airport between Srinagar, Jammu and New Delhi and other states on daily bases.
“We had a morning flight from Srinagar, but when we reached the airport, we were informed that the flight was delayed. But after waiting for an hour, we were told that all flights have been cancelled,” Ajaz Saleem, a Delhi bound passenger said.
Yesterday passengers also faced the same situation in the morning when no flight could operate from the airport due to snow and poor visibility. However, in the afternoon all flights operated normally when sun came out though chilly weather continued due to icy cold winds.
