Tihar staffers suspended over torture allegations

Srinagar: Following the beating of 18 prisoners mostly Kashmiris by the Tamil Nadu Special Force in Tihar Jail, Delhi authorities have suspended all prison staff allegedly involved in the incident, media reports said on Friday.

As per the media reports a detailed report has been submitted to the Union Home Ministry about the incident that took place on the intervening night of 21 November.

Inmates including Shahid Yousuf, the son of Hizb chief Syed Salahuddin, held at Tihar’s high-risk ward had alleged they were beaten and injured during a routine search.

However, reports said that no FIR was registered in this connection till late on Thursday.
