Ready to face any eventuality on borders: DIG BSF

Srinagar, Nov 30: Asserting that Border Security Force (BSF) is India’s first line of defence, a top BSF officer said on Thursday the troops are ready to face any eventuality on the borders.
“BSF is the first line of defence in the country. In Kashmir valley, BSF is fighting alongside Army at the borders and is doing an excellent job,” Deputy Inspector General (DIG)/PSO of BSF S C Budakoti said on the sideline of 52nd BSF Raising Day function held at Frontier Headquarter BSF Kashmir at Humhama.
Brushing away question about the increase in the infiltration attempts being made from across the border before the passes are closed for winter months due to snow, he said there was nothing new in it. “During winter season the passes are closed. If you look at the data, it goes down during winters…,” he said.
However, he said there will no lowering of guard and BSF personnel are ready to face any eventuality at the border.
Talking about the BSF Raising Day, he said the force is celebrating its 52nd year of existence. “BSF was raised in 1965 and on December Ist and every year the raising day is celebrated across the country. The biggest programme happens in Delhi, which also includes a march-past,” he added.
He said BSF during these 52 years has done a tremendous job – be it in the field of operations, sports or welfare schemes.
