Police recover 2 kg charas, arrest 5 notorious drug peddlers

Srinagar, Nov 30: Continuing with the special mission of J&K Police to eradicate the drug menace from the society, based on specific information, the special team of District Police Kupwara has achieved another big success by arresting 05 notorious drug peddlers from different places of the district and recovered 2 kgs of Charas and 03 Bottles of XXX RUM from their possession.
The arrested drug peddlers have been identified as Gh Rasool Wani R/o Wani Doursa Lolab, Nazir Ahmad Ganie R/ Dogerpora Kalarooch, Ab Rashid Ganie R/o Gund Kralpora, Bilal Ahmad Mir R/o Muqam Awoora and Tariq Ahmad Dar R/o Bumhama Kupwara from their possession 2 Kgs Charas and 03 Bottles of XXX RUM were recovered. Cases under NDPS Act have been registered and investigation is in progress, more arrests are expected. During the special drive against drug peddlers, the Special team of District Police Kupwara has achieved major successes during the current year by arresting 45 notorious drug peddlers involved in drug peddling/narcotic smuggling.
So far, 24 Kgs of Charas, 2 Kgs of Heroine, 4.5 Kgs of Brown Sugar, large quantity of codeine and of capsules proxovan/banned drugs have been recovered from the possession of arrested drug peddlers. One cross LoC narcotic smuggling module has also been busted by arresting 04 notorious cross LoC narcotic smugglers from Karnah area and recovered huge quantity of heroine and brown sugar.
People of the Kupwara have eulogized the role of Police for launching effective campaign against drug peddlers and sale of psychotropic substances with according to locals are adversely affecting and ruining the future of the youth of the area. They have also thanked the J&K Police Chief S.P. Vaid, IPS under whose patronage J&K Police is committed to eradicate the drug menace from the society which is one of the commandments of J&K Police for the year 2017. District Police Kupwara has appealed the local residents to come forward and help the police to eradicate this menace from the society as this anti-drug drive shall continue to make the society drug free. District Police Kupwara also appealed the parents of addicted youth to come forward without any social stigma and avail the free facilities of drug de-addiction created by J&K Police at de-Addiction Centre PCR Srinagar.
