Temperatures drop below freezing point in Valley

Srinagar, Nov 26: Night chill revisited again Kashmir valley, where the minimum temperature witnessed drop and settled at sub zero after recording major improvement yesterday.
There was no change at Leh, where the minimum temperature remained minus 10.6 degree, coldest in the region followed by border town of Kargl minus 4.5 degree, a Met department spokesman said Sunday afternoon.
He said the weather will remain dry during the next 24 hours in the Jammu and Kashmir. There will be no change in the weather during the subsequent two days, he added.
The minimum temperature again witnessed dip and settled sub zero after recording major improvement yesterday due to overcast sky in the valley.
He said world famous ski resort of Gulmarg, still waiting for major snowfall, was coldest in the valley after the minimum temperature recorded drop by a notch. Against yesterdays minus 2.4 degree, it was minus 3.6 degree.
Kupwara a north Kashmir town, where security forces are conducting Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) was second coldest in the valley, where the night temperature settled at minus 1.5 degree against yesterdays 0.1 degree.
World famous health resort of Pahalgam also recorded drop in the minimum temperature and settled at minus 1.2 degree against minus 0.2 degree recorded yesterday.
Srinagar, the winter capital, also recorded drop in the mercury. Against yesterdays 1.3 degree minimum temperature it was minus 0.2 degree. Met spokesman said the sky would be mainly clear and the maximum and minimum temperature would be around 15 degree and minus one degree respectively during the next 24 hours in Srinagar.
