Ganderbal, Nov 16: Upper reaches of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, including health resort of Sonamarg, Gumri Zojila Pass,Panch Tarni, Zero Point, Gagangir,Kullan received fresh snowfall on Thursday afternoon.
Reports said Sonamarg and other higher areas of Ganderbal have been receiving fresh spell of snow since Thursday afternoon adding that nearly two-inch snow has accumulated at Sonamarg area.
Reports further added that 434-km long Srinagar-Leh highway, connecting the Ladakh region with Kashmir valley, has been closed for vehicular traffic due to fresh spell of snowfall and slippery road conditions. Hundreds of vehicles are stranded at Sonamarg.
Official sources said Sonamarg-Zojila-Drass portion of Srinagar-Leh highway, including Zojila and Meenmarg, recorded light to moderate snowfall since Thursday afternoon resulting in slippery road conditions.
No vehicle was allowed on the highway as a precautionary measure, they added.
