Omar Abdullah asked for a selfie with Malala

NEW DELHI: Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah made a frank admission today – he said he asked a celebrity for a selfie with them.

The National Conference leader added that he doesn’t usually ask to take a selfie with anyone, or that he rarely does, but he just couldn’t help himself this time.
Why? Because the celebrity in question was Nobel Laureate Malala Yousfzai. The venue was Oxford University, where Malala is an undergraduate. Abdullah happened to be visiting campus.

“Had the pleasure of meeting @Malala at the event at St Antony’s college. What an amazing young woman. One of the few times I’ve asked anyone for a selfie,” Omar wrote on twitter.

Abdullah is yet to post the picture on Twitter, but he did post a group photograph from an open house he attended with students as audience, which includes Malala.

Malala, who was shot by the Taliban five years ago for daring to go to school, began attending college at Oxford this year. She also joined Twitter this year, and has been regularly posting updates about her work in educating girls.
