Joint leadership calls for shutdown on Nov 27

Srinagar:  The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) has called for a complete shutdown on Nov 27 against the plight of prisoner in jails across Kashmir valley, especially Tihar Jail in New Delhi.
Addressing a hurriedly called press conference in Lal Chowk, the JRL leadership including Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik said, “The condition of Kashmiri prisoners is deteriorating in jails across Valley especially in Tihar Jail. We appeal to the international community to look into the matter. “To protest against the plight of Kashmiri prisoners we have called for a complete shutdown across Jammu Kashmir on Nov 27,” they said.
The JRL said that they delayed the hartal call in view of the ongoing Higher Secondary School examination. The JRL later took out a protest macrh from Abi Guzar lane towards the Ganta Ghar which was foiled by the Jammu Kashmir Police. Both the leaders, Mirwaiz and Malik, were arrested with dozen of supporters and lodged in Kothi Bagh police station.
Earlier, octogenarian Hurriyat leader, Syed Ali Geelani addressed the gathering over phone as he is under continous house arrest since last many years.
