EJAC asks MHRD ministry, state to desist from demoralizing govt sector

Srinagar, Nov 14: EJAC President, Qayoom Wani warns MHRD ministry and state authorities of education department to desist from demoralizing govt sector and govt teachers.
He said in a statement that any move to discourage govt teachers in the name of NAS, Pretham and other surveys will be fought tooth and nail. A high level meeting of teachers’ forum was held at Provincial office Gandhi Nagar Jammu under the chairmanship of EJAC President, Chairman JKTF Ab. Qayoom wani.
In the meeting the NAS conducted at central as well as state level under the directions of MHRD involving pvt school teachers was discussed threadbare. The statement issued reads that it was unanimously observed that such surveys and other assignments conducted by pvt school teachers or pvt sector is aimed to discourage the govt teachers as well as govt sector at central and state level.
He said that the govts at central and state level are giving hollow slogans like, Teachers are the nation builders adding no nation can arise above the level of its teachers. He said on 5th September on teachers day on the other hand when the learning levels of students are to be monitored and evaluated the govt teachers are being sidelined by the people at the helm of affairs with the plea that the survey should be conducted fairly it means that the nation builders are not fair in their duties and are not empowered to evaluate their students judiciously.
Wani said that this kind of attitude by the people at the helm of affairs at MHRD and state level are quiet discriminatory and based on to discourage, disrespect and to demolish the credibility of govt teachers with the hidden aim and conspiracy to boost capitalism in the education sector.
In the meeting Wani warned the MHRD and authorities of education department of J&K that if such type of surveys and evaluating modules are repeated in which the govt teachers are sidelined by the govt will have the serious repercussions at central as well as state level. Teachers forum has decided to fight tooth and nail against any decision that aimed to discourage govt sector and its teachers.
Wani said that we are in touch with central level teacher organisations to resist such moves from MHRD and step motherly treatment with govt sector. Wani said if the people at the helm of affairs feel that the govt teachers are not fair in evaluation what will be the fate of the nation.
Wani urged upon the hon b’le education minister to look into the sensitivity of the issue involving sentiments of lacks of teachers and the authorities of the education department be directed not to take govt sector/ govt teachers at ride.
Wani said that we are hopeful that hon,ble education minister who is working with positive mind set will not allow to happen such one sided decisions in future. Wani said that we will not compromise with the honour, dignity and respect of the employees of the education department especially teachers.
Wani said that there should be non discriminating attitude in text books, uniform, examination and infrastructure. Wani said that paying meager amount of Rs.200 for uniform to govt school students is a cruel joke.
Wani urged upon the education minister that the money utilized by the govt on books and uniform should be paid in cash to the students so that they can get standard books and uniform and will be able to face the challenges in their academic career.
